Last week
Bloomberg reported that California was suing the video game developer for its failure to address allegations levied against the company properly. Activision Blizzard’s response to the state’s lawsuit calling it “meritless and irresponsible,” didn’t help matters. Publications have already said they would not write about the company’s gaming news. Now, the company’s employees are staging a mass walkout and strike after calling out Activision Blizzard for its statement to send a resounding message.
Kotaku reports that employees will take part in a mass walkout virtually from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. PT on Wednesday, July 28, and it will be called Activision Blizzard Walkout for Equality. Activision sued for frat boy gaming culture

The California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFHE) sued Activision Blizzard Inc., alleging the company encourages a “frat boy” culture where female workers received lower pay, were promoted more slowly than male counterparts and were fired more quickly.
According to the DFEH suit, female employees were subject to sexual and other derogatory comments and inappropriate behavior.
The suit noted that an agency for women is seeking an injunction and penalties under the California Equal Pay Act, including unpaid wages.

Following California’s filing of a lawsuit against Activision Blizzard last week, employees at the company are planning to walk out and strike on Wednesday, August 28th, to protest the “frat boy” culture, sexual discrimination, and inequitable working conditions outlined in the lawsuit and felt by personal experience of many of the employees themselves.
Organized by a group of employees at Blizzard, the strike event is being called the Activision Blizzard Walkout for Equality. A virtual walkout is asking all Activision Blizzard employees who are able to stop working from 9 am to 6 pm Pacific. A live event expected to garner around 50+ attendees will take place at the Blizzard campus.
