Ignite Announces Winning Startups of First PakImpactInvest Event The first pitching competition of PakImpactInvest was held online on 22nd and 23rd May in which 29 startups from Ignite’s National Incubation Centers, Ignite-funded projects, and AP’s network pitched their business plans to national and international investors from North America, Europe, and Pakistan. 50 individual & institutional investors and 6 top business incubators and accelerators from 14 countries participated in the two-day event. PakImpactInvest is an initiative of Ignite – National Technology Fund and Ministry of IT & Telecom in collaboration with Accelerate Prosperity. It is a national investment platform to connect local startups and national/international investors including commercial and impact investors, venture capitalists, donors, and philanthropists.

The Ministry of Finance (MoF) recently announced that the Mohammed Bin Rashid Innovation Fund (MBRIF), one of MoF’s projects that supports innovative companies, was named a champion of the World Summit on the Information Society Prizes 2021 (WSIS) under the Enabling Environment category – in recognition of its efforts to support innovators and enabling an environment of innovation. Younis Haji Al Khoori, Undersecretary of MoF, and Fatima Yousef Al-Naqbi, Chief Innovation Officer, MBRIF Representative of MoF, participated in the virtual award ceremony that took place alongside the WSIS over the course of five days from May 17 to 21, 2021, and was organised by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
