2021 State of the Edge Report Shows Impact of COVID-19 on Edge Use A recent edge report by the Linux Foundation concluded that the global pandemic has changed which industries will have the largest edge computing architecture footprint going forward. Surprising nobody who’s watched IT news for the last year, the most recent edition of the Linux Foundation’s annual State of the Edge report documented the lingering impact that COVID-19-prompted edge computing developments will have. The previous year had projected the use of edge computing architecture on an industry-by-industry basis in 2028. Consequently, the Linux Foundation’s State of the Edge project has revisited many of the forecasts it made in its 2020 report.

29 April 2021 Ordr selected to improve security and patient safety at University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust IoT security company Ordr has been selected by University Hospitals of North Midlands (UHNM) NHS Trust to improve security and patient safety All hospital equipment connected to the network can be profiled, protected and monitored in one system. Ordr will look to provide an innovative new Systems Control Engine (SCE) system, to improve the safety of patients by discovering and securing every connected device, including Internet of Medical Things (IoMT), Internet of Things (IoT) and Operational Technologies (OT). As a result of the deployment, all hospital equipment connected to the Trust’s network, medical and non-medical, can be profiled, protected and monitored under one umbrella system, which can detect any abnormal activity that may suggest a device has been compromised.
