Cheyenne-Laramie County Health Will Stop COVID Testing Soon
The Cheyenne-Laramie County Health Department will stop testing people for COVID-19 at the end of this week.
That s according to a post on the agency s Facebook page: Friday, January 29th will be the last day of COVID-19 testing performed by the CLCHD. We are shutting down our facility at the Event Center at Archer to devote more resources to the vaccination effort. Testing is still available in the community at various urgent care centers as well as many primary care providers. Thank you!
The free testing has been conducted by LCHD weekdays for the last few months.
The Cheyenne-Laramie County Health Department had a call with Cheyenne’s elected officials, where they stressed about not having enough PPE to distribute vaccines when they are available to the general public.
Kathy Emmons says she is hoping for a significant decrease in cases and an easing of restrictions by July or so. That may or may not include an easing of mask rules,
Cheyenne Closures For Martin Luther King Jr. Day Monday
All federal, state, Laramie County, and City of Cheyenne Offices are closed today for the Martin Luther King holiday.
Laramie County School District#1, St. Mary s Catholic School, and Laramie County Community College are also closed, but Laramie County School District#2 is operating on the normal schedule.
The Cheyenne Housing Authority and Cheyenne Transit Authority are closed, and no city buses will run today. Healthcare-related closures include the Cheyenne VA Medical Center, Cheyenne Laramie-County Health Department, and Crossroads Clinic. City of Cheyenne trash pickup that normally would happen on Monday was done on Saturday, and the Solid Waste Transfer Station and the landfill are both closed today.
