PSP Investments and Bridge Industrial Form UK Logistics Joint Venture

Bridge Industrial and the Public Sector Pension Investment Board (PSP Investments) formed a joint venture to acquire and develop logistics properties in the United Kingdom, targeting a portfolio value of £1 billion. This venture plans to have a build-to-core focus, including the acquisition and development of last-mile logistics assets within high-barrier infill submarkets in Greater London and the Midlands region.
Incepted in 2000, Bridge Industrial is a privately owned vertically integrated real estate operating company and investment manager.

Endowment Model Pioneer David Swensen Dies

David Swensen, Yale’s chief investment officer, died at the age of 67 on May 5, 2021 in the evening after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Swensen had undergone years of treatment for cancer. Swensen had gone on temporary leave from his job in September 2012 to undergo treatment before coming back to work at Yale.
In a press release from Yale’s President Peter Salovey, “After receiving his Ph.D. in economics from Yale in 1980, David worked for Salomon Brothers and Lehman Brothers before returning to Yale in 1985 to lead our investments office. With his guidance, Yale’s endowment yielded returns that established him as a legend among institutional investors. Over the years, he lectured in Yale College and the School of Management. On Monday, he and long-time friend and colleague Dean Takahashi taught the last class of the term for Investment Analysis, a seminar they co-instructed for thirty-five years.
Coinbase Plans to Close San Francisco HQ in 2022

Coinbase Global Inc. is the biggest U.S. cryptocurrency exchange. After going public in April 2021, Coinbase revealed plans to shutter its San Francisco headquarters in 2022 and enable workers to work from home.
Binance is the world’s biggest cryptocurrency exchange and it doesn’t have a headquarters.
“Closing our SF office is an important step in ensuring no office becomes an unofficial HQ and will mean career outcomes are based on capability and output rather than location,” the company said. “Instead, we will offer a network of smaller offices for our employees to work from if they choose to.”
Qatar Finance Minister Arrested over Allegations of Embezzlement

Qatar Finance Minister Ali Sherif al-Emadi was arrested by orders of the Attorney General of Qatar and was questioned over allegations of embezzlement, abuse of power, and crimes related to the public sector, a statement carried by state news agency QNA said on Thursday. Ali Sherif al-Emadi has been minister of finance since 2013 and sits on the board of the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA). He is also Chairman of Qatar National Bank (QNB). The findings and investigation are related to his government position as finance minister.
