Anxiety as Sanwo-Olu tests positive, El-Rufai in isolation amid second COVID-19 wave Our Correspondents Nigerians are beginning to express anxiety due to reports of a likely second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, amid an economic recession and job losses reputedly caused by the first wave of the pandemic. This is as the Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Saturday tested positive for COVID-19, while his Kaduna State counterpart, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, also on Friday evening announced that he was going into self-isolation as one of his family members and a government official tested positive for the virus. It was the second time El-Rufai would go into isolation since February when the index case of the coronavirus was recorded in the country.

Share President Muhammadu Buhari, state governors, among other dignitaries across the country, on Saturday, mourned the death of Publisher of Leadership Newspaper, Sam Nda-Isaiah, who died at 58 year on Friday. Reports say that Ndi-Isaiah did not show any sign of sickness when he appeared at the office on Thursday. The president, in a condolence message on by his spokesman, Mr Femi Adesina, in Abuja on Saturday condoled with the media industry, the Nda-Isaiah family, friends and associates of the deceased. President Buhari, who expressed shock and sadness at Nda-Isaiah’s death, described his death as a blow to the media industry, added that “The country has lost a man of conviction, a resolute and dogged believer in a better Nigeria.”

Okowa mourns Leadership newspaper publisher, Nda-Isaiah -

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa Governor  Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta has condoled the family, management and staff of Leadership Newspapers over the death of the publisher, Mr Sam Nda-Isaiah. Nda-Isaiah died on Friday in Abuja  after a brief illness at the age of 58. The governor in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Olisa Ifeajika, on Saturday in Asaba, also commiserated with members of Newspapers Proprietors Association of Nigeria (NPAN) the media and  All Progressives Congress (APC) on the death of the respected entrepreneur, politician and philanthropist. Okowa  said the late publisher would be greatly missed by all stakeholders in the media industry, especially for his invaluable contributions to the growth of the Nigerian economy.

Atiku reacts to death of Sam Nda-Isaiah, Publisher of Leadership Newspaper Published Atiku, who expressed shock over Nda-Isaiah’s death, said the deceased can-do spirit would be missed. Nda-Isaiah, a former presidential aspirant and Publisher had died after a brief illness. Reacting to his death, Atiku, in a series of tweets wrote: “I am shocked and saddened by the death of the publisher and chairman of @LeadershipNGA, Sam Nda- Isaiah. Sam’s can-do spirit, coupled with his boldness and innovativeness embodied the very best of the #NigerianSpirit. He will be sorely missed. “My condolences to his family and friends, management and staff of Leadership Newspaper Group, Newspapers Proprietors Association of Nigeria and the Nigerian Union of Journalists. May his memory be a blessing.”
