Employers have expressed relief following the decision of the government to relax a bit the 2-week enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in the National Capital Region (NCR) and neighboring provinces even as they urged the government never to implement the ECQ again unless it is the last resort.
Sergio Ortiz-Luis Jr., president of the Employers Confederation of the Philippines, said the modified ECQ (MECQ) may not be the best but at least more establishments can now operate albeit still limited capacity.

“MECQ might not be the best but this is better than ECQ. It is still a hard climb but this is a positive move,” he said.
The Philippine government should have spent more of its budget in boosting the health sector as this would have minimized the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the economy, according to the Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP).

Published April 10, 2021 12:24pm The Food and Drugs Administration on Saturday said that the compassionate special permit for the use of anti-parasitic drug ivermectin as COVID-19 treatment is issued per patient. In an interview with Dobol B TV, FDA director general Eric Domingo explained that an application is needed before the regulatory body can issue the compassionate special permit to a hospital. “Lahat po ‘yan bawat ospital kumukuha ng compassionate special permit kasi kontrolado po sa CSP kung ilang tableta, kung kaninong pasyente nila gagamitin, kung saan manggagaling na bansa, ano ang registration sa bansa na ‘yon” (hospitals need to get a CSP and it is patient-specific), he said.
