The data from McCallum s mobile phones were analysed and showed he had been engaging in sexual communication with other teenage girls and breaching his SHPO using various aliases. McCallum, of Destination Drive, Colchester, who has remained in prison, admitted all the charges and was was sentenced to five years in prison at Chelmsford Crown Court on Thursday. The investigation was carried out by our Management of Sexual Offenders and Violent Offenders team (MOSOVO), a team dedicated, specialist officers who work to manage the risk serious sexual and violent offenders pose to the community. This includes working with partner agencies to monitor and risk assess offenders prior to, and after, their release from prison to reduce the risk they pose to the public.

Joe McCallum, 32, was reported to police after a vulnerable teenage girl was seen getting into his car in March 2020 – just two months after police applied for a further Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) to be enforced by the court. He had been due to be taken off the Sex Offenders Register, but the further SHPO meant he was restricted from contacting girls under 18, using social media and accessing internet-enabled devices.

Ryan Farthing cleared of causing death of Reece Gnazalo A driver has been cleared of causing the death of a man who was fatally hit by a car on an Essex motorway.  But a jury has convicted Ryan Farthing of careless driving and driving whilst over the specified limit for a controlled drug. He had been driving on the M11 southbound during heavy snow when he lost control of his car near junction 7 at Harlow just after 8.15pm on March 2, 2018. The BMW collided with the central reservation and spun, causing it to face oncoming traffic. Farthing managed to get out and stand safely behind the crash barrier.
