Many didn’t expect that when they lost their jobs they would have to struggle to cover the cost of veterinary care. The Animal Welfare Society of South Florida has been helping pet owners since 1972. Most recently, Tiffany Acevedo and her family couldn’t afford to help save Thor, their 6-year-old pit bull, after he developed an abdominal obstruction. “He is my baby . he is a part of the family,” Acevedo said.

According to Dogdrop, it is looking to decrease the rate of dogs being returned to shelters by offering up reliable, affordable daycare services for dogs. The company s CEO and co-founder is Shaina Denny. The company says it is building a network of dog daycares, and offering up millennial, tech-enabled features that provide updates to pet parents through an online portal. The company specifically said it launched its services due to an alarming rate of dogs being returned to shelters as dog parents go back to work.
