Dallas kicks off first in-home COVID vaccination program for homebound seniors
The Visiting Nurse Association of Texas and Dallas-Fire Rescue will inoculate 300 seniors this week.

For Albert Garza, this week marked the end of a long wait.
The 75-year-old received his first dose of the Moderna vaccine at his southeast Dallas home from two Dallas Fire-Rescue medics.
Garza said he wanted to get the COVID-19 vaccine a long time ago, but he doesn’t drive and he didn’t feel like making the trek to catch a DART bus.

Proceeds from the tulips benefit the Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice of the Wabash Valley.
The group offers home help-care and end-of-life care. This the 34th year for the fundraiser.
The annual sale always coincides with Administrative Professionals Day.
Dallasâ in-home vaccination program launches after delay

DALLAS - The city of Dallas re-launched its in-home COVID-19 vaccination program Monday.
The program was supposed to start last week and give single-dose Johnson & Johnson shots to homebound seniors.
But it had to be delayed when the federal government paused the use of that vaccine over safety concerns.
Dallas is now using the Moderna vaccine, which requires two doses. You know, we’ll be back out in four weeks with the Moderna in 28 days and give that second shot. And so, logistically it’s a bit more of a challenge because of the temperature it has to be held at and so forth. But again, very resilient team and very good at managing whatever is thrown at them, said Dallas Fire-Rescue Assistant Chief Bret Stidham.
