Gov. Bill Lee issued a new executive order this week that extends the authority of county mayors around the state to issue mask mandates, allowing them to continue doing so until Feb. 27. His previous order was set to expire next week.
Waters said he would make an announcement soon on whether he would extend the mandate in Sevier County.
âIâll be reviewing that and making a determination in the next day or two,â he said.
âObviously weâre having issues with (COVID) so weâre going to continue to try to do all we can to mitigate that and to encourage citizens to follow the guidelines from the state and CDC.â
