The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is a remarkably tuneable machine, but it has been fraught with issues. Transmissions have failed after less than 50 miles, and hoods have flown open while owners have been driving the car. The new owner of the 2021 Corvette you see below is someone who experienced the reliability issues of the C8 firsthand but to an even more severe degree.
With only 500 miles on the clock, Brian M. Bowling was getting on a freeway when his car started to leak oil before it caught fire. As you can imagine, he was not impressed. To make up for it, GM has given him the very first 2021 production Vette to come off the line.

With plant closures caused by United Auto Workers Union strikes and the global pandemic, the new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray hasn t had the smoothest of launches. Consequently, some customers who ordered a 2020 model had to wait for the 2021 model to arrive. Thankfully, things are back on track now. Production of the 2020 Corvette was extended to enable GM to hit its original 20,000 unit target.
The 2021 model also started production one month earlier than expected. And according to Corvette Blogger, the first examples are already arriving in showrooms, so some owners can enjoy their 2021 Corvette this year as an early Christmas present from Chevrolet.
This year is one everyone will want to forget, including the auto industry.
Production and sales were both immensely harmed by measures aimed at preventing the spread of the coronavirus and it looks like it’s going to be a while before things are back to anything close to normal.
But the march of progress continued, if not entirely unabated, and there were some excellent and important new entries to the automotive landscape.
But even though all of those models more than met expectations, the one car that impressed me more than any of them was the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, because it exceeded them.

GM has auctioned off two iconic Corvettes to raise funds for Durham Children’s Aid Foundation.

th generation mid-engine Chevrolet Corvette Stingray built for the Canadian market, raising more than $400,000 for the foundation in honour of Sharon Clark and Sharon’s Kids, an organization founded to help support those in need.
