ALL residents living in care homes in Northwich and across west Cheshire have now been vaccinated against Covid-19. The fantastic statistics from Cheshire West and Chester Council for the borough show that 100 per cent of residents and more than 80 per cent of staff members have been vaccinated. These figures exceed the national safe level for protection against Covid-19 laid down by government scientific advisers with the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE). This latest positive news comes in the wake that care settings across the borough are currently free from Covid-19 infection. Ian Ashworth, director of Public Health said: “This is a massive achievement and we would like to thank all our care staff across the adult care sector for making this possible and for their dedication and commitment to ensuring the residents in their care remain protected.

That’s according to the latest workforce report from NHS Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), which leads the vaccine roll-out in the county. The report found that 312 sick days were taken by staff in February of this year, with 56 per cent of these days down to ‘stress, anxiety, or depression’. “It goes without saying that the last 12 months have been incredibly challenging for everyone working in health and care,” a CCG spokesperson told the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
