Summit HS student COVID-19 cases rise to 24; no in-person classes through next week
Principal distressed by reports of aggressive social media posts
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) The number of Summit High School students who have tested positive for COVID-19 has risen to 24, mostly from exposures to those who attended a party last weekend. As a result, classes by distance learning will continue through next week, the principal said Saturday.
That s twice as many exposures as reported as of late Thursday, before Bend-La Pine Schools offered free testing on Friday at Pilot Butte Middle School.

REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) Despite snowfall and a winter storm warning, the COVID-19 vaccine clinic at the Deschutes County Fair & Expo Center will continue operations as scheduled for appointments this week, officials said Thursday.
Those who are scheduled to receive a dose on Thursday or Friday and are unable to safely travel to the clinic due to inclement weather will be contacted early next week to have their appointment rescheduled, a brief news release stated. We are actively preparing for inclement weather and will have crews onsite to make sure roads are clear and mobility assistance is available, the statement said.
Oregon Health Authority allocated 1,200 first-dose COVID-19 vaccines to Deschutes County this week. Adults age 80 and older are being scheduled to receive the vaccine. This week, first-dose vaccine appointments will be scheduled through primary care clinics that received allotments of first dose vaccine, according to a release from Deschutes County Health Services. "Primary care clinics receiving vaccine will contact patients to schedule appointments," the release stated. "Please do not call to request a vaccine appointment." Some St. Charles patients and community members who are receiving second doses of the vaccine will be scheduled to receive their dose at the Deschutes County Fair & Expo Center.
