To truly find out what the students are thinking and feeling, the Sedona-Oak Creek School District is taking a unique step.
During the Tuesday, Jan. 5, SOCSD Governing Board meeting, the board unanimously voted to move forward with creating a student representative position who will attend board meetings. While that student will not have a vote, they will have a voice.

For the organizers of the Sedona International Film Festival, the writing was on the wall.
In early November, SIFF Executive Director Patrick Schweiss said the show must go on and that the festival was looking at offering a hybrid approach with a reduced number of live showings of films and the option of viewing them from home. In a three-hour meeting on Monday, Dec. 7, the Sedona-Oak Creek School District Governing Board voted unanimously to keep Sedona Red Rock High School and West Sedona School open for in-person learning during the nine remaining school days before winter break starts Saturday, Dec. 19.
But when school reconvenes on Monday, Jan. 4, classes will be virtual-only and stay that way for a few days after.
