Bandits Using Proceeds Of Abduction To Fund Boko Haram, Says El-Rufai

A strong link has been established between the bandits terrorising the North West and the Boko Haram insurgents operating in the North East. Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, stated this when he featured as a guest on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, saying his government would not negotiate with bandits. “It has been established that the kidnapping operations (by bandits) are substantially funding Boko Haram activities in the North East. “Boko Haram has no way of getting any money and some of them have slipped and joined the ranks of the bandits, and together they are doing this to raise a large amount of money that are being used to fund the intensified operations of Boko Haram,” he said.

Bandits Attacking Kaduna Because We Refused To Give Them Money – El-Rufai

Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has insisted that the state government has no money to pay bandits amid the renewed attacks by armed groups in the state. He stated that the recent bandits’ attacks on communities in the state were a result of the government’s decision that it would not negotiate with them. “We have a feeling that the renewed attacks in Kaduna are not unconnected to the position that we have taken as a government that we will not negotiate with criminals,” said the governor who was a guest on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics. He added, “We will not give them any money and they will not make any profit from Kaduna; anyone that comes to Kaduna will not get a penny from the state government, except he will get a bullet instead.”

An administration and its silver linings

Vanguard News An administration and its silver linings On By Ikechukwu Amaechi IN an attempt to muddle the waters, spin doctors in the Presidency and their cohorts seem to have devised a new strategy. Not contented anymore with just calling people who dare criticise President Muhammadu Buhari, no-matter how constructive, haters, and being generally dismissive of any opinion that disagrees with their holy grail, they are now blaming Nigerians for the country’s woes. On March 28, a friend of mine who believes that Buhari is beyond reproach forwarded to me an article trending in the social media. Titled: “The problem with Nigeria”, the author, @harrydaniyan, narrated how he “carried out a social experiment” by standing up to unruly motorists, who, in a desperate attempt to avoid traffic gridlock in Utako, Abuja, flouted traffic laws by driving on the sidewalk meant for pedestrians. He stood up to the indocile drivers even when everyone else acquiesced to their unruliness
