Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, says the move by the Federal Government to rehabilitate the Port Harcourt Refinery is one of the empty promises of the All Progressives Congress government.
He stated this on Wednesday while featuring on Channels Television’s ‘Politics Today’ programme monitored by The PUNCH.
The Federal Executive Council had earlier on Wednesday approved the plan by the Ministry of Petroleum Resources to rehabilitate the Port Harcourt Refinery with $1.5bn.
Commenting on the announcement, Wike said the news was nothing to cheer about, adding that Nigerians should be ready for a deluge of similar promises from the APC government as the 2023 elections draw near.

Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari, has kicked against Sheikh Ahmad Gumi’s intervention on the banditry activities in the northwest.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today which aired on Wednesday, Masari challenged the Islamic cleric to a debate.
“Was he there? What did he know about what we did in Kaduna? I challenge Gumi to come and tell us if he knows what we did in Kaduna,” the governor said in reaction to Gumi’s stance on how the state government is handling banditry.
“The stories they are telling him are the stories they said in 2015, the same story in 2019. What does he know about the forest? Is he victimizing killings?”
