YouTube, Facebook to be fined up to 1/5 of their annual revenue over repeat failure to remove content prohibited in Russia
MOSCOW. Dec 18 (Interfax) - On Friday, the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Technologies and Communications approved amendments to the bill on fines on Internet providers and web portal owners over failure to comply with the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology, and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor) s orders on the restriction of access and the removal of content prohibited in Russia.
The amendments to the bill specified the amount of fines.
For instance, the repeat failure of a hosting service provider to restrict access to and to remove prohibited information will be punishable with an administrative fine ranging from 100,000 to 200,000 rubles for individuals, from 500,000 to 800,000 rubles for officials, and from 1/20 to 1/10 of revenue from the entire sale of commodities (work or services) over
