The Sonoma County Planning Commission are set to vote on a draft ordinance this Thursday regarding winery events.
The ordinance would set new rules for winery events including rules about parking, food service, event coordination with neighbors, and noise. It would apply to those seeking news permits or wineries wanting to modify their existing permits. As of 2016, 307 wineries have been approved for tasting rooms, and of those, about 155 have permits for events. If approved by the commission, the Board of Supervisors would need to approve the ordinance which is expected to happen in August.

A controversial measure relaxing Cannabis restrictions for growers has taken a step towards passage. Last Thursday, the Sonoma County Planning Commission approved the resolution urging supervisors to adopt the amendment to the zoning codes. The amendment would give the Agricultural Commissioner’s Office more authority to issue cultivation permits for cannabis without a public notice or hearing. It would also remove a 1-acre cap on properties 10 acres or more and allow them up to cultivate up to 10 percent of the parcel. The board of supervisors will need to approve the amendment first, a date for which has not been set.
