A portion of the Joe Rodota Trail has been closed to clear a small homeless encampment. On Tuesday Sonoma County Regional Parks officials closed the 2 1/2 mile stretch between Roberts and Dutton Avenues. They handed out notices to up to 20 individuals that lived on the trail indicating that campers needed to leave by this morning. The Press Democrat reports that the current closure is expected to last through at least Friday and could go into the weekend. Park officials also put up fencing along parts of the trail to prevent further encampments, hoping to avoid a similar mass encampment that was along with the trail in late 2019 and early 2020.
