Silverchair Unite Catalog at Sony Music

The students got a leg up when they took out a national demo competition, then signed to Sony Music Entertainment Australia subsidiary Murmur, and swiftly set about making recorded music history. Before they could legally drink or drive, the rockers were the hottest act in the country, ruling the national ARIA charts with their grunge-influenced 1995 debut album Frogstomp and the powerhouse single “Tomorrow.”  Frogstomp went to No. 9 on the Billboard 200, and its followup, 1997 s Freak Show, peaked at No. 12. The band changed its name to Silverchair in the process, and the song sparked interest from both Mushroom Records and Sony’s Murmur.
