Police Investigating Second Shooting of the Year

Robertson. Police responded to a 9-1-1 call on Jan. 3 at approximately 8:49 pm reporting shots fired at a residence on Voorhees Avenue, according to authorities.  Upon arrival, the Franklin Township Police Department observed damage to a residence and a nearby vehicle which they determined to be caused by gunshots, Robertson said in a statement.  No injuries were reported.

Ware, of Augusta, GA, were each charged with first-degree murder, robbery and weapon possession following the Nov. 2 killing of 34-year-old Denny Sanchez, Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson said in a joint release. Franklin Township police officers responded to multiple 9-1-1 calls around 8:40 p.m. for reports of a shooting at a Hamilton Street barber shop, Robertson said alongside SCPO Chief of County Detectives John W. Fodor and Franklin Township Public Safety Director Quovella M. Spruill.

Raritan police were called to a Hidden Pond Court home, just after Stephen E. McManus fired a shot around 8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12, Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson said. Nearby residents were evacuated for their safety as officers on scene made direct visual and verbal contact with a female resident in an upstairs bedroom of McManus home, Robertson said. Meanwhile, McManus refused to leave the house, barricading himself inside with access to several firearms, the prosecutor said alongside local law enforcement.

N.J. man, 74, arrested after standoff with SWAT team, cops say Updated Dec 18, 2020; A 74-year-old Somerset County man was arrested after firing a gun and barricading himself inside a home for nearly two hours, authorities said Friday. Police were called about 8:05 p.m. Saturday to Hidden Pond Court in Raritan after a woman reported a man firing a gun inside the home, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson. Responding officers surrounded the residence and evacuated people living in nearby homes, the prosecutor said. “Officers on scene were able to make direct visual and verbal contact with the (woman), who was unharmed and secured inside in an upstairs bedroom of the residence,” Robertson said.
