One man arrested on drug charges after Somerset Sheriff’s raid in Concord Township
Juan Nunez, 37, formerly of New Jersey, was arrested and taken to Somerset County Jail after the raid, which was conducted around 4:05 a.m. Wednesday in a trailer at Concord Trailer Park.

One man was arrested on drug charges early Wednesday in Concord Township after law enforcement officers from Somerset County Sheriff’s Office, Maine State Police and Maine Drug Enforcement Agency raided a mobile home on Trailer Park Road and seized drugs valued at about $58,000.

Juan Nunez, 37, and formerly of New Jersey, was initially charged with aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs, a Class A crime, according to Somerset Sheriff Dale Lancaster. The charges were elevated due to the amount of drugs seized and the presence of firearms located with Nunez, he said.

Five people were taken to hospitals Friday after a single-vehicle crash on Meadow Brook Road in New Portland. The crash occurred when a 2016 Lexus sport utility vehicle went out of control after the driver apparently fell asleep at the wheel, according to police. The Lexus left the road and struck trees on the left side of the road, also known as Route 16.

Five people were taken to hospitals Friday after a single-vehicle crash on Meadow Brook Road in New Portland that appeared to be caused by excessive speed and driver inattention.
Two of the passengers were taken to a Lewiston hospital by two LifeFlight helicopters that landed at the New Portland Fire Station, according to Michael Mitchell, chief deputy of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office.

Thomas Harris, 58, of Boothbay was driving a 2020 Chevrolet Impala south on the road, also known as U.S. Route 201, when the crash occurred, according to Skowhegan police Chief David Bucknam.
