Harry Whalley, 24, of Llys Ardwyn, Aberystwyth pleaded guilty to driving a large good vehicle on the A38 at a speed 30mph over the legal limit. He was fined £134, with a surcharge of £32 and £85 for costs.

A SOMERSET couple who sold bearded dragons online have been banned from keeping exotic pets for ten years after admitting neglect the animals. Calls were made to the RSPCA to investigate after bearded dragons advertised on animal selling sites by Martin Geary, 31, and Lesley Donnelly, 25, caused concern. The couple, of Poplar Road, Bridgwater, were sentenced at North Somerset Magistrates’ Court after pleading guilty to animal welfare offences, following a prosecution by the RSPCA. Concerns were raised after bearded dragons being sold by the couple caught the attention of an exotic animal rescuer, who contacted the animal charity voicing animal welfare fears.

Boy, 14, and woman, 22, charged with Class A drug supply offences

A TEENAGE Somerset boy and a 22-year-old woman have both been charged with drug supply offences. Maya Hyatt, of Newlands Green, Clevedon, and the 14-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons but is also from Clevedon, are due in court next year. The cases follow an incident on April 12 this year in which police stopped a vehicle in Clevedon and seized a quantity of drugs. Both are charged with: possession with intent to supply a Class B drug – cannabis; possession of a Class A drug – cocaine; possession of a Class C drug – tramadol. They are due to appear at North Somerset Magistrates’ Court on 1 March.
