SAUGERTIES, N.Y. â The Saugerties Central School District has decided to stay with remote learning through the first week of January.

The district had already been in remote mode through the end of the month, but announced on Friday, Dec. 18, it would extend that through the week of Jan. 4-8.
- Advertisement - Due to the consistent number of positive cases in our region and predictions for further increases as we move to the holiday season, the Saugerties Central School District will continue with our remote learning model, a letter to parents and guardians from Superintendent Kirk Reinhardt said. We anticipate returning to our hybrid model on Monday, January 11, 2021. We will continue to closely monitor our region and local cases.
Ulster County reported another fatality as active COVID-19 cases surged to more than 1,800 on Monday.

According to the Ulster County coronavirus dashboard Monday evening, there were 1,821 active cases reported on Dec. 13, more than 100 since the dashboard last updated county numbers on Dec. 10. The reported active cases were actually higher a day earlier, hitting a peak of 1,844 on Dec. 12.

The Ulster dashboard reported 75 new daily positive cases out of 1,289 tests for Sunday. The daily rate is at 5.8 percent.
