OKC churches go outside for Easter services after COVID cancellations

Oklahoman For many Christian preachers and their congregations, Easter 2020 brought an unthinkable scenario to vivid life: Church buildings were closed on the holiest day in the Christian calendar. This year, most metro-area churches are hosting in-person worship services to celebrate Christ s resurrection, and several have literally thought outside the box by offering outdoor Easter services  in a variety of locations  because the COVID-19 pandemic is still a concern.  Frontline Edmond will host 9 and 11 a.m. worship services on Sunday at the Mitch Park Amphitheater, 1501 W Covell in Edmond. Fifth Street Baptist Church is planning a Pull Up and Praise Easter service at 9:30 a.m. Sunday outside Millwood High School, 6724 N Martin Luther King Ave.

Donations Help Fund 67th Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Academy

By: Clayton Cummins After some time in limbo, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol received the green light for this year’s trooper academy.  Due to budget cuts, the academy was to be put on hold, but the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority and Oklahoma State Banking Department funded the academy.  “In this particular case, we are looking at about $6.5 million to run an academy that would be somewhere around 60-65 cadets,” said Lt. Shelby Humphrey. “Understand that figure covers their first year of salary and all of their equipment.”  The academy is no easy task. Recruiters said, in it you learn more about yourself than you ever thought you would.
