This past Tuesday afternoon caused a tragic dichotomy regarding law enforcement in Madison County and rural West Tennessee.
As the world awaited a verdict announcement for a murder trial in which an officer of the law in Minneapolis was the accused, Sheriff John Mehr and his leadership staff suddenly began getting up and exiting a meeting filled with county commissioners and department heads during a hearing regarding next year’s budget.
At one time, all present law enforcement had left the room, prompting others connected to emergency personnel to check their phones to see if anything was up regarding their area of expertise.

He also texted that “I hesitate” to take the sport on Mueller’s team “in part because of my gut sense and concern there’s no big there there.”
