Police, lawyers renew commitment to resolve killings

SunStar unnamed March 17, 2021 TOP officials of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) met on Tuesday, March 17, 2021, to renew their commitment to work together and strengthen their communication line for faster resolution of the killings of judges, prosecutors and member of the legal profession. In a joint statement, the PNP and the IBP said they will collaborate with each other within the parameters of the Lawyer Security and Justice memorandum of agreement that the two institutions signed in March 2020 which aims to protect members of the legal community from any kind of violence. Covid-19 death toll in PNP climbs to 34

March 16, 2021 A POLICE officer assigned in Central Luzon Police Regional Office (PRO-3) had died of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), bringing the death toll in the Philippine National Police (PNP) to 34. The latest fatality was a 45-year-old police legal officer who succumbed to cardiac arrest secondary to Covid-19 on March 14, according to the PNP Public Information Office. As of March 15, a total of 12,343 PNP personnel have contracted Covid-19, with 11,391 recoveries. There remained 918 active cases. Another recent fatality was a 54-year-old officer with the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO). Lieutenant General Guillermo Eleazar, PNP officer-in-charge, said they were verifying information from Senator Ronald dela Rosa, a former PNP chief, that the fatality was a close contact of PNP Chief Debold Sinas and NCRPO director Major General Vicente Danao Jr.

(File) + March 16, 2021 A TOTAL of 3,584 persons were apprehended on the first night of the two-week uniform curfew in Metro Manila, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Tuesday, March 16, 2021. Of the 3,584, 1,449 were detained, 547 were warned and 1588 were fined. The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said those detained were released after 5 a.m. and given the option to render community service if they fail to pay the fine. The curfew, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., was imposed as a measure to slow down transmission of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
