Following the ongoing implementation of a robust security action plan to protect citizens and critical national infrastructure across the country, operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, have arrested a total of eighty-four (84) notorious criminal suspects within the past one month. A total of forty-five (45) sophisticated firearms and ammunition including 1-GPMG, 1-LAR rifle, 17-AK47 rifles, 2-Pump Action rifles, 20- locally fabricated firearms, 3-single barrel guns, 9899- live ammunition of different calibres, 80-fake vehicle number plates, 1- Toyota Camry with Reg. No. AA 792 HJA and 1-Toyota Corolla LE with Reg. No. QAP 622 AA, were recovered from the suspects in the operations.
Authorities of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) say operatives have arrested a total of 84 notorious criminal suspects within the past month.
In a communique on Wednesday, Police Spokesman, CP Frank Mba noted that the arrests follow the ongoing implementation of a robust security action plan to protect citizens and critical national infrastructure across the country.
“A total of forty-five (45) sophisticated firearms and ammunition including 1-GPMG, 1-LAR rifle, 17-AK47 rifles, 2-Pump Action rifles, 20- locally fabricated firearms, 3-single barrel guns, 9899- live ammunition of different calibres, 80-fake vehicle number plates, 1- Toyota Camry with Reg. No. AA 792 HJA and 1-Toyota Corolla LE with Reg. No. QAP 622 AA, were recovered from the suspects in the operations.
Police Intercepts Culprits with Hundreds of Machine Gun Bullets (PHOTOS)
Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force attached to the Ebonyi State Police Command have intercepted 753 live ammunition of General-Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) concealed in a sack being transported in a commercial vehicle from Abakaliki, Ebonyi State to Umuahia in Abia State.
In a statement signed by CP Frank Mba, Police Public Relations Officer, the intelligence-driven covert operation also led to the interception and recovery of the deadly ammunition.
The statement partly reads, “Similarly, following investigations into the foiled bank robbery on the Onueke branch of a commercial bank in Ebonyi State which occurred on Tuesday, 27th April, 2021; Police operatives led by the Commissioner of Police, Ebonyi State Command, on 29th April, 2021, stormed the criminal hideout of suspects indicted in the investigations located

Last Tuesday, the gang had attempted to rob a commercial bank at the Onueke area of the state.
Frank Mba, spokesperson of the police, in a statement on Sunday, said operatives attached to Ebonyi police command stormed the gang’s hideout in Ezza North LGA, and on sighting the police they were said to have opened fire, which led to the death of three of them.
The operatives also recovered two AK-47 rifles, five pump action guns, and other ammunition from the gang.

“The suspects on sighting the Police squad opened fire on them. The Police team engaged them gallantly and professionally. At the end, three (3) members of the gang including two (2) male and one (1) female met their waterloo following bullet injuries sustained during the exchange of gunfire. Other suspects fled in different directions,” the statement said.
