Regina– A Saskatchewan’s COVID-19 numbers have risen to new heights, New Democratic Party Leader Ryan Meili renewed calls on the government to increase transparency, and take further action.. . .
Unsurprisingly, nearly all the questions in question period from the opposition New Democratic Party focused on the government’s response to COVID-19. New Democratic Party Leader Ryan Meili repeatedly asked for additional funds for a variety of different groups, from schools to more staffing for long-term care, to additional testing. He also pushed the government to do more to control the spread of COVID-19. Layoffs at Regina’s EVRAZ steel mill in excess of 500 were another source of questions. Towards the end of the session, Meili pointed out that if the government had followed the NDP’s idea of a three-week “circuit breaker,” which the NDP suggested three weeks ago, COVID-19 number may not have gotten so bad.
In response to the Dec. 14 COVID-19 announcement, Meili released the following statement: “The Sask. Party government’s approach to the second wave of COVID-19 is chaotic. It’s never clear what standards the government is using for decisions, what the next steps will be, or even when those decisions will be made. This leads to confusion as families are left scrambling to keep each other safe and make ends meet. Today’s announcement shows that the government’s half measures announced in November have failed but it’s clear they plan to carry down the path of too little too late.

At the microphone, Bruce said, “I have a message for Scott Moe, and what’s that public health minister’s name? Shahaab? Shereeb? Shahorb? I can’t get these foreigners’ names right. Anyway, are you s g me?” he exclaimed, and then laughed.” Dr. Shahab is a civil servant, not a minister. Bruce continued, “I mean, this is ridiculous. Okay, this is a lie. This COVID-19 s is a lie. They have not isolated a gene. They haven’t isolated a germ. They haven’t identified what the scare is. It’s bulls . It’s total bulls ,” he said, before turning to a reporter behind and to the right of him and saying, “Oh, where’s CBC News here? You gonna get a good look? It’s bulls !
