Republicans blew a chance at winning the House majority in 2020, with a number of weak recruits unable to take advantage of a better-than-expected national environment on Election Day.
To avoid a similar fate in the 2022 midterms, the GOP is taking a page out of Democrats 2018 playbook: finding veterans to run for office.
In the first three months of the off-year, party recruiters are reporting a surge of enthusiasm from a diverse crop of prospective candidates, including women and people of color. Washington - he National Republican Congressional Committee threatened donors that it will tell former president Donald Trump that they are defectors if they opt out of giving recurring monthly funds to the campaign arm for the House GOP.T
After donating to the NRCC, a donor is shown a yellow box with a small prechecked box and warned: If you UNCHECK this box, we will have to tell Trump you re a DEFECTOR. Left checked and the supporter will be agreeing to contribute every month.
