Washington, Apr 6 (Prensa Latina) Following the most recent violent incident on the Capitol last Friday, US congressmen today are making efforts to improve security in the building while keeping the facility open to the public.
Lawmakers from both parties have called for removing the fence around Congress headquarters since it was lifted after the assault by supporters of former President Donald Trump on January 6, and some even introduced legislation to ban any permanent fencing.
But just a week after security officers finished tearing it down to allow traffic on the surrounding streets, Noah Green rammed his car into a barricade and killed one of the police officers at a Capitol security checkpoint.

An Ohio-based tea party leader is dismissing the notion that Democratic Congressman Tim Ryan has much of a chance to win a U.S. Senate seat there next year.
During a recent appearance on the Fox News Channel, the representative from Northeast Ohio confirmed that he is eyeing the Senate seat of retiring Republican Senator Rob Portman. While fellow Democrats in the state, including former Governor Ted Strickland, have encouraged him to go for it, he does not have a huge statewide profile.
