The Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa (Denosa) says that unrest in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng is a barrier to healthcare workers as its members have reported various difficulties amid ongoing unrest. As the protests are expanding now, it is becoming a barrier to nurses from either going to work or their homes. This is very concerning to us. For instance, this morning, a nurse around Gauteng reported that her car [while she was in full uniform] was stoned [allegedly] by protestors in one of the streets. It was badly damaged, spokesperson Sibongiseni Delihlazo told News24 on Monday.
