Trump’s pending 2nd impeachment: Where Lehigh Valley Congressional lawmakers stand

President Donald Trump is facing a historic second impeachment a week after a violent and deadly insurrection at the U.S. Capitol that sought to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.
An article of impeachment expected is expected to come to a vote this week in the U.S. House. The single charge of “incitement of insurrection” says the Republican president “willfully made statements that, in context, encouraged and foreseeably resulted in lawless action at the Capitol, such as: ‘if you don’t fight like hell you’re not going to have a county anymore.’
Communications giant Comcast and Bethesda-based Marriott International Inc. are suspending contributions to the 147 Republican lawmakers, including U.S. Rep. Andy Harris of Maryland, who refused last week to certify Democratic President-elect Joe Biden’s victory.
Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives plan to impeach Donald Trump on Wednesday unless he steps down or is removed before then, after drawing up charges accusing him of inciting insurrection ahead of last week s siege of the Capitol.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The U.S. House of Representatives expects to begin considering a second impeachment of Donald Trump on Wednesday, a top Democrat said on Monday after the president was formally accused of inciting insurrection ahead of last week’s storming of the Capitol.
House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer told his fellow Democrats the chamber would start the impeachment proceedings on Wednesday if Vice President Mike Pence does not respond to a request to invoke the 25th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution to remove Trump from office, a House aide said.
The Michigan State Capitol Commission voted unanimously on Monday to ban the open carry of firearms inside the state Capitol building in Lansing, a move prompted by last week's deadly mob attack in Washington.
