On Wednesday outgoing US President Donald Trump became the first president in US history to be impeached twice when 10 of his fellow Republicans joined Democrats in the House of Representatives to charge him with inciting an insurrection in last week s violent rampage in the Capitol. The vote in the Democratic-controlled House was 232-197 however it seems unlikely the swift impeachment would lead to Mr Trump s being ousted before his four-year term ends.

WASHINGTON House lawmakers may have been exposed to someone testing positive for COVID-19 while they sheltered at an undisclosed location during the Capitol siege by a violent mob loyal to President Donald Trump.
The Capitol’s attending physician notified all lawmakers Sunday of the virus exposure and urged them to be tested. The infected individual was not named.
Dr. Brian Moynihan wrote that “many members of the House community were in protective isolation in the large room some for several hours” on Wednesday. He said “individuals may have been exposed to another occupant with coronavirus infection.”
Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives plan to impeach Donald Trump on Wednesday unless he steps down or is removed before then, after drawing up charges accusing him of inciting insurrection ahead of last week s siege of the Capitol.
Donald Trump, who leaves office on January 20, is left with alternatives such as online conservative platform Gab, a free-speech network with almost no censorship rules, that has far less of a reach.
