Biden in February 2020 promised that there would be no new taxes on small businesses. But a new proposal, which will begin winding its way through Congress next week, could affect 1.9 million.

CONGRESSWOMAN Cori Bush has spent a night on the steps of the US Capitol to protest against the end of a Covid-related moratorium on evictions.
She was joined by other Progressive Democratic Congresswomen Ayanna Pressley and Ilhan Omar.
The House Democrat said shortly before the freeze expired at midnight on Saturday that seven million people would be ‘at risk of evictions’ over unpaid rent.
The freeze was imposed 11 months ago, in part to halt the spread of infections through crowding in shelters.

Pelosi Says She Won’t Let GOP ‘Antics’ Distract From Jan. 6 Probe
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi declared late Thursday that a commission to investigate the events that unfolded at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 will move forward despite what she called “antics” from Republicans.
It comes after Pelosi on Wednesday rejected two of the five Republican lawmakers that House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) had nominated for the commission, Reps. Jim Banks (R-Ind.), and Jim Jordan (R-Ohio).
Following Pelosi’s move, McCarthy said in a statement her rejection represented “an egregious abuse of power” and that Republicans “will not be party to their sham process and will instead pursue our own investigation of the facts” unless Pelosi accepts all his picks for the congressional committee.
McCarthy Taps 5 Republicans to Serve on Jan. 6 Select Committee
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) on Monday tapped five House members to represent Republicans on the Democrat-led select committee investigating events at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.
McCarthy released his nominated members, selecting Rep. Jim Banks (R-Ind.), who chairs the conservative caucus Republican Study Committee, to be the top Republican on the committee. He also selected Reps. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), Rodney Davis (R-Ill.), Kelly Armstrong (R-N.D.), and Troy Nehls (R-Texas) to serve on the panel.
“I have accepted Leader McCarthy’s appointment to this committee because we need leaders who will force the Democrats and the media to answer questions so far ignored. Among them, why was the Capitol unprepared and vulnerable to attack on Jan. 6,” Banks said in a statement on Monday.
