Microsoft Paint finally coming to the Microsoft Store - Software - News

Back in 2017 Microsoft announced that it was going to maintain and update Microsoft Paint via the Microsoft Store (which was called the Windows Store back then). At the time it was facing a bad consumer reaction to the idea that MS Paint would be depreciated in favour of Paint 3D. Four years later the iconic software firm has just got around to making good on its promise. The arrival of Microsoft Paint in the Microsoft Store was spotted yesterday by Aggiornamenti Lumia on Twitter but subsequently confirmed in a blog post regarding Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 21354 (scroll half way down page). At the time of writing the app isn t showing up in the Microsoft Store for me though.

Microsoft Will Update Windows 10 Paint and Snipping Tool via the Store

Microsoft Will Update Windows 10 Paint and Snipping Tool via the Store Apr 8, 2021 16:58 GMT      Snipping Tool on Windows 10 The classic Windows Paint app showed up in the Microsoft Store earlier this week, and now Microsoft has confirmed that it doesn’t come alone. In addition to MSPaint, the Snipping Tool is also making its way to the Microsoft Store, a change that would allow the software giant to update both apps without relying on Windows Update. The Snipping Tool was originally supposed to be retired and replaced by Snip & Sketch, but now that it’s published in the Microsoft Store, the two can be serviced together in a more efficient way.

Microsoft Paint and Snipping Tool Will Both Be Updated in the Store

Microsoft Paint and Snipping Tool Will Both Be Updated in the Store Following this morning’s rumors about Paint heading to the Store, Microsoft confirmed that news and will also update Snipping Tool that way. News about the changes came as part of a blog post about a mostly innocuous Windows 10 Insider Preview build for some reason. That build has little in the new way of truly new features, but Microsoft is letting users personalize the news and interests pop-up it’s adding to the taskbar, and it is updating the Display and Camera pages in Setting as well. As far as Paint and Snipping Tool go, both will continue to be offered in Windows 10, but both will be serviced through the Microsoft Store going forward. Paint is getting a new icon that’s more consistent with the current icon look and feel in Windows 10 (where today it still has the old glass look from Windows Vista). As with Notepad, the Paint shortcut will now be available directly in the top level of the Start menu a

Windows 10 Insider Build 21354: MSPaint Upgraded to Its Own Place in Start Menu

Apr 7, 2021 15:25 EDT Microsoft has finally finally dropped a new build for Insiders in the Dev Channel, introducing some much-needed improvements and features. The Windows development team noted that starting with today’s build, the name of the branch these builds are being released from will change to CO RELEASE from the RS PRERELEASE. However, this doesn t mean any changes for Insiders since these builds will be treated like the RS PRERELEASE branch builds. As our engineers work in development cycles internally, we may prioritize work being done in a specific branch and may need to move Insiders between branches, Brandon LeBlanc wrote in today s blog post. We are treating these builds the same as we would treat builds from the RS PRERELEASE branch.
