A report on discrimination against Asian women takes on new meaning after Atlanta shootings

Asian American and Pacific Islander women were more than two times more likely to experience discrimination this past year, according to a report Tuesday by the group Stop AAPI Hate.
The group started tracking incidences of discrimination at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic in March of last year. Its findings took on new meaning in light of shootings in the Atlanta area on Tuesday night that left eight people dead, six of whom were women of Asian descent.
The violence took place amid an ongoing rise in violent attacks on people of Asian descent locally and nationwide.
