India, Asian Development Bank Sign $300 Million Loan Agreement To Upgrade Power Distribution Network In Uttar Pradesh

India and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) on Friday (18 December) signed a $300 million loan agreement to upgrade rural power distribution networks to provide reliable electricity supply to consumers in the state of Uttar Pradesh, the Ministry of Finance said in a statement.
The loan agreement was signed between Dr C S Mohapatra, additional secretary, Department of Economic Affairs and Takeo Konishi, country director of ADB s India Resident Mission.
After signing the loan agreement, Mohapatra said that upgrading the distribution network will help improve the quality and reliability of electricity supply, reduce the aggregate technical and commercial (ATC) losses and restore the financial sustainability of the rural electricity supply in UP.

MANILA, PHILIPPINES (19 December 2020) The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a $231 million loan to construct the Lower Kopili Hydroelectric Power (LKHEP) plant in Central Assam, India.
This loan is the third and largest tranche of the $300 million Assam Power Sector Investment Program approved by ADB in 2014. The project has so far upgraded the 70-megawatt (MW) Lakwa gas project and improved distribution networks in the state.
The LKHEP plant will double the hydropower generation capacity of the Assam Power Generation Corporation. It will harness water from the Kopili River to generate a total capacity of 120 MW of electricity, particularly during peak demand periods.
‘Pvt schools can collect fees as per state govt’s recommendations’

Jaipur, Dec 19: The double bench of Rajasthan High Court comprising Chief Justice Indrajit Mahanti and Justice Satish Kumar Sharma on Friday said that the private schools will now be able to collect fees as per the recommendations made by the state government on October 28.
The state government vide order dated October 28, 2020 issued directions for collection of school fees after reopening of the schools to the tune of 70 per cent of tuition fees by the schools affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and 60 per cent from the schools affiliated with Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education on the basis of reduction of syllabus by the respective Boards.

New Delhi: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Indian government on Friday signed a $300 million loan to upgrade rural power distribution networks to provide reliable electricity supply to consumers in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
The signatories to the tranche 1 loan for Uttar Pradesh Power Distribution Network Rehabilitation Project were Dr CS Mohapatra, Additional Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) in the Ministry of Finance and Mr Takeo Konishi, Country Director of ADB’s India Resident Mission, according to a Finance Ministry statement.
Karnataka Legislative Council chairman slaps notice to Council Secretary

Bengaluru, Dec 18: The Karnataka Legislative Council Chairman, Pratapchandra Shetty, has issued a notice to Council Secretary, K R Mahalakshmi, for the ugly incidents, which were witnessed on December 15, in the house.
According to official sources, the Chairman took objections about some of the actions of the Council Secretary, including that of providing official papers to the Council Deputy Chairman, Dharmegowda who had allegedly occupied the Chair and tried to conduct the house.
The Council Secretary had been directed to reply to the notice within 48 hours on the unsavoury incidents which had shamed the House which has over 120 years of legacy of guarding democratic values.
