A National Register of Citizens (NRC) was accordingly prepared but names figuring in the list have left the original residents more agitated.

JMB member sentenced to 10 years in explosives case

JMB member sentenced to 10 years in explosives case UNB, Rangamati UNB, Rangamati A Rangamati court today sentenced a member of the banned militant outfit Jamaat-ul Mujahideen Bangladesh to 10-year imprisonment in a case filed under the Explosive Substances Act. Rangamati District and Sessions Judge Md Jahed Saiful Elahi passed the order. The convict Shamim Mirza Galib has been in jail for more than 15 years, said Public Prosecutor Advocate Rafikul Islam.
