On-site PCR testing at Jamaica resorts in the works, says JTB
Date: Jan 11 2021
TORONTO The government of Jamaica has approved a number of private labs to conduct COVID-19 testing for Canadian travellers in destination, plus on-site testing at select resorts in Ocho Rios, Montego Bay and Negril is in the works, says the JTB.
Meanwhile Jamaica’s private health facilities have been working rapidly to increase COVID-19 PCR testing for visitors and to make the process more accessible and streamlined.
The exemption was put in place Jan. 9 due to a shortage of tests on the island, and is only for passengers arriving at Pearson Airport, and only for departures from Jamaica to Canada through Jan. 18.
Just when vaccines are becoming available to treat Covid-19 comes a new strain of the virus which is causing concern in Trinidad and Tobago.
In a news release close to seven oâclock last night, the Ministry of Health said it has noted with great concern the recent developments announced by the Pan American Health Organisation/World Health Organisation relating to a new strain of the virus in the United Kingdom.
As a result, the ministry said updated protocols will now apply to persons coming from the United Kingdom into T&T (where the time between the date of departure and the date of arrival into Trinidad and Tobago is 14 days or less):
