‘Poor condition of treatment plant resulted in sewage being discharged into nearby drains’ The National Green Tribunal has asked the Kochi Corporation and the Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA) to carry out the directions given by the State Pollution Control Board for the effective management of waste generated at the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium complex in Kaloor.
The Southern Bench of the Tribunal comprising Justice K. A sum of ₹65,000 crore has been allocated for the development of 1,100 km of NH 66 corridor. This includes the 600 km of the proposed Mumbai-Kanyakumari corridor through Kerala.
The proposed corridor is expected to spur development, generate employment and improve connectivity between towns and municipalities. The State will also benefit from the Kollam-Madurai corridor.

KSRTC bus station to be relocated to Karikamuri
The 2-km extension of the Kochi metro from Pettah to Thripunithura will be completed in 2021-22, Finance Minister Dr. Thomas Isaac said in his budget speech.
Resource mobilisation for the project has been ensured. The construction of the 11-km extension of the metro, from Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium up to the IT hub in Kakkanad too will be carried out at an expenditure of ₹1,957 crore, he added.
