Two new PPE manufacturing facilities are planned for the Broussard area, and they re expected to create 2,200 new jobs, officials say.
Gov. John Bel Edwards joined Ochsner Health President and CEO Warner Thomas, SafeSource Direct CEO Justin Hollingsworth and other officials announces the development of two manufacturing facilities for personal protective equipment, or PPE.
Economic Development officials say the projects will create a combined 1,221 new direct jobs, and Louisiana Economic Development estimates the project will result in a combined 992 new indirect jobs, for a total of more than 2,200 new jobs.

Medline invested $1.5 billion to bolster the domestic supply chain, the Northfield, Ill.-based supplier announced Monday.
Medline added new distribution centers, U.S.-based manufacturing plants and upgraded its technology over the past three years, which created 8,500 jobs, eight new distribution centers, nearly 150 manufacturing expansion projects and a new digital ordering platform, the organization said. The company plans to spend an additional $500 million this year as part of the initiative. Our ability to be flexible for healthcare providers has been a direct result of our ongoing planning for the future, Medline CEO Charlie Mills said in prepared remarks. We know we can make healthcare run better by answering and anticipating the needs of customers.
