Programme to inoculate Chinese without local UAE residency approved as Mena expands vaccine stockpiles
The number of Covid-19 cases in the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region crossed 8,668,623 on 24 May, according to Worldometers data collated by MEED.
Countries in the GCC account for 22.4 per cent (1,940,947) of all regional cases, and Iran’s 2,843,523 cases comprise 32.8 per cent of the Mena tally.
Since 17 May, 201,347 new cases have been reported in the 17 Mena countries tracked by MEED.
Inoculation programmes are advancing in the Mena region.
Vaccine-only access in Saudi Arabia
Vaccines manufactured by the US’ Johnson&Johnson and Moderna have been approved for visitors to Saudi Arabia, with the Health Ministry reaffirming approvals for the Pfizer and Oxford-AstraZeneca jabs one day after the kingdom reopened travel borders on 17 May.
Bahrain Bourse implements Covid-19 measures for investors
MANAMA, 2 hours, 7 minutes ago Bahrain Bourse has announced that only fully-vaccinated investors (who completed 14 days following their second dose) and fully-recovered investors who are above 18 years, will be allowed access to Bahrain Clear’s Investor Services Centre. Investors will have to show the green badge on their BeAware Bahrain application to access the premises as of May 23, 2021 until June 3, 2021 or based on the recommendations of the National Medical Taskforce for Combating the Coronavirus (Covid-19), reported
Bahrain News Agency (BNA). All investors will have to pre-book their appointments with Bahrain Clear via the Skiplino application before visiting Bahrain Clear’s Investor Services Centre, where only investors with prior bookings will be allowed access.

IGA adds new feature to the BeAware Bahrain application
MANAMA, 6 hours, 7 minutes ago The Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA), in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, has added a new feature to the BeAware Bahrain application, enabling users to update their Covid-19 vaccination and recovery status. The iGA continues to ease the process of validating Covid-19 vaccination data to facilitate entry into venues restricted to vaccinated or recovered persons. Vaccinated persons only become eligible for entry 14 days after they have completed the vaccination process. The new feature has been made available in the application s latest version for all IOS and Andriod users.
