South Bend man dies in interstate wreck 12/29/20 6:34 PM Police respond to the northbound lanes of Interstate 65 north of Uniontown on Tuesday morning after a single-vehicle wreck was reported. A South Bend man died in a single-vehicle wreck on Interstate 65 between Uniontown and Seymour. William A. Dudek, 61, had to be extricated from a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze after it left the roadway, struck a guardrail, became airborne, crossed the northbound lanes and caught fire this morning, according to a news release from Sgt. Stephen Wheeles, public information officer for the Indiana State Police Versailles Post. Dudek was transported to Schneck Medical Center in Seymour, where he succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash, Wheeles said. He was pronounced dead by the Jackson County Coroner’s Office.

After quite a bit of research and discussions, though, she became excited about it. Robinson, who has been a registered nurse for 25 years and currently is assistant director of nursing at Covered Bridge Health Campus in Seymour, said she happily took the vaccine for her patients, family, community and profession. As a nurse, I have seen firsthand what this virus has done and so many lives lost, not only due to the virus itself but the associated isolation, she said. If I can be a part of something that saves a life, then I have done my part in battling this pandemic.

Fire department purchases mechanical CPR devices with CARES Act funding 12/17/20 10:21 PM Seymour Fire Chief Brad Lucas doesn’t take credit for the life-saving mechanical CPR devices the city was able to purchase recently even though they bear his name. Using allocated funds from the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, the fire department has added not one, but three LUCAS 3 CPR Compression devices to its arsenal of emergency equipment. We just got them last week, Lucas said. It’s a really good tool to have in our tool box, but no they didn’t name it after me.
