MEDFORD, Ore. A 23-year-old man was convicted in Jackson County Circuit Court on Wednesday for lighting a sleeping homeless man on fire in downtown Medford last fall.
Medford Police arrested Brandon Nathaniel Lyon, also a transient, on September 16 after matching his description to that of the suspect, seen on security camera footage lighting the victim s blanket on fire. The 54-year-old victim woke up in flames, receiving third-degree burns to his hands and feet from putting the fire out.

NEWPORT, Ark. (KAIT) - The city of Newport filed a lawsuit in Jackson County Circuit Court on Monday, April 5 with 11 different counts, including breach of contract after the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Commission approved the sale of Natural State Wellness Enterprises, LLC to Good Day Farm, LLC back on Nov. 10, 2020.
The sale transferred the cultivation facility from Newport to Pine Bluff.
The city of Newport, the Newport Economic Development Commission, the Northeast Arkansas Charitable Foundation, and the Newport-Jackson County Industrial Development Bond Board are seeking over $5 million in damages “without notice” about the sale and transfer.

MEDFORD, Ore. The former UPS driver accused of shooting at drivers along I-5 in southern Oregon received his sentenced in Jackson County Circuit Court on Tuesday after victims of the shootings delivered their statements.
A grand jury indicted Ayers on a total of 34 counts in December. Though the shootings took place in three separate counties, Ayers agreed to have all of the charges tried in Jackson County.
