KANSAS CITY, Mo. â Joel Holbrook was a proud U.S. Army veteran who served in Desert Storm. He continued to serve in the National Guard even after moving to the Kansas City area to work as a corrections officer at the Jackson County Detention Center.
Holbrook s older sister, Connie Sheely, describes him as quiet but funny, someone who loved animals, working with kids, and music. He even played in the U.S. Army band.

LEE S SUMMIT, Mo. â Two of the four people accused of the 2019 murder of a 19-year-old man outside a Raytown pool hall are out of jail on bond awaiting trial.
According to court records, one of those suspects was captured on video firing shots at the victim.
Riley McCrackin was shot and killed in an alley behind a Raytown pool hall two years ago.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. â A Jackson County corrections officer has been charged in federal court for his role in a drug-smuggling scheme.
Daniel Coach, 26, was charged Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri with one count using a phone to facilitate unlawful activity of acceding to corruption.
According to court records, an inmate tipped off the Jackson County Sheriffâs Office that Coach was being paid to transport illegal drugs into the Jackson County Detention Center for inmates.
