Snowboarding Crowns World s Best All-Mountain Riders in Series Finale

Snowboarding Crowns World’s Best All-Mountain Riders in Series Finale Men s Journal 2 hrs ago Annie Fast © Tom T. Bird Monterosso / Natural Selection Tour / Red Bull Content Pool Early morning sunrays lit up the sheer 40-degree slope as the first competitor dropped into the 2,200-vertical-foot-long Alaskan face. Ahead of this final day of snowboarding competition at the third and final stop of the Natural Selection Tour, there was one question on everyone’s mind: What type of rider would excel in such a demanding venue? Return of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort employee shuttle and parking lot for next season is uncertain

Whether the new employee shuttle and parking lot Jackson Hole Mountain Resort set up this season will return next year remains to be seen. The resort started both this winter, hoping to spread people out in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic and give employees multiple options to get to and from work. Part of the goal was to keep people from getting infected and prevent different teams like the ski patrol from being quarantined, which could have shut down the hill. That didn’t come to pass — the hill stayed open — and resort President Mary Kate Buckley told the Jackson Hole Daily that plans for next year are still being ironed out, including for things like the shuttle.

Teton to Snake Fuels Reduction Project set to resume with more prescribed burns

This week, wildland firefighters will begin a series of prescribed burns at four locations southwest of Wilson in the Teton to Snake Fuels Reduction Project area. The controlled fires will be initiated by helicopter and ground crews to help clear highly flammable fuels, such as brush and dead vegetation, and prevent the spread of forest fires. “It is so important as we embrace how to live with fire on the landscape to do fuels reduction projects,” said Jackson Hole Fire/EMS Fire Marshal Kathy Clay. Wildfires are unpredictable and unavoidable, Clay said, but preventative treatments give firefighters a better chance of containing wildfire spread before it reaches neighborhood front doors.
