JACKSON, Tenn. The Jackson Madison County Library is encouraging you to read in exchange for the chance to win some prizes.
“After the holidays, it’s a little bit of a dead space. We want to give people something to look forward to,” said teen services librarian Jess Rieger.
The library is now giving people a chance to enter for a prize with a bingo card. Adults, children, and teens all are able to participate and win by reading and completing other activities.
“It will challenge themselves to read, to do other things,” Rieger said. “The bingo cards have some things like ‘do a good deed and don’t tell anybody about it. ”

JACKSON, Tenn. Last year, the Jackson-Madison County Library partnered with Jackson Housing Authority to provide Lincoln Courts WiFi in their community rooms.
Now, they’re working together again to encourage reading in the complex by building a “Little Free Library” in the community room at Lincoln Courts.
Library director Dinah Harris says Lincoln Courts residents can go to the community room and bring a book to drop off to share with others.
“Pick something off your shelf you didn’t enjoy as much and see if someone else will enjoy it,” Harris said.
Or, you can pick a book from the Little Free Library to take home to read.

JACKSON, Tenn. A new program from the Jackson-Madison County Library is aimed at making sure newborn babies get their first library card.
The library says the “My First Library Card” program will make sure they have a card before ever leaving the hospital.
“Connecting children with literature is one of the most important jobs of the library. We are very excited to be able to assist the Imagination Library in making sure all newborns are registered to receive free books,” said Library Director Dinah Harris.
Harris says they will be working to help keep addresses updated when parents renew their cards.
