JACKSON, Tenn. Jackson-Madison County School board members hosted a ribbon cutting for their new Central Office Boardroom on Thursday.
The new boardroom will be used for holding all board meetings for members and continuing with helping to utilize resources for teacher and staff.
Superintendent Dr. Marlon King says this board room was constructed and designed by staff and board members.
“That’s more money that we are saving that can go back into the classroom for our students and for our teachers,” King said.
School officials and teachers from local schools also attended the ribbon cutting.

More than $2.3 million of student and teacher devices and $460,000-plus in software for virtual learning were the focus Jackson-Madison County School System used to reopen schools in 2020 thanks to federal grant money.
Dozens of projects to address learning loss, technology and other school projects made up most of JMCSS’ $16.7 million in grant spending in the following months.
With a third allocation of grant money totaling over $37 million in hand, JMCSS leaders say the district will spend more than the 20% required of it to address learning loss.

JACKSON, Tenn. Tuesday, the Madison County budget committee worked to tie up loose ends of the budget for the upcoming year.
“Basically what we’re doing is we’re getting some money from the state. We thought originally it was going to be like 1.2 million, but they voted last week at the state to send us $698,000,” said Madison County budget chairman Doug Stephenson.
Stephenson says this means they now how clarification on where some money can go.
“We want to use it wisely. Do we want to use it for a capital project? Do we want to use it for, whatever. We just don’t want to squander it away,” he said.
